Beniamino Bufano (Italian American, 1890-1970), "Balinese Mother" lithograph, an Artist's Proof, ca. 1960s. "ARTIST'S PROOF XX/XX" and Bufano's signature handwritten in pencil below image. A Beniamino Bufano signed and framed Artist Proof, a lithograph in Bufano's series on the subject of motherhood. The composition features a half-length portrayal of a nude woman in profile with an infant suckling her breast. It is signed and numbered by the artist below and professionally framed with museum-quality mats and a large wooden frame under glass. On the verso is an inscription that reads, "Balinese Mother - Artist's proof of series in Portfolio 1/100 - XX/XX" and notes that this piece was gifted in 1982 by Leo (Mills or Hills - tricky to decipher handwriting) the manager of the Bufano estate to Margaret (Hanover or Hanauer?). Condition
Minor tears to gallery paper on verso. Wired and ready to hang. Has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be in excellent condition. "ARTIST'S PROOF XX/XX" and Bufano's signature handwritten in pencil below image. Inscription on the verso stating that it was gifted by the manager of the Bufano estate in 1982 .
