Pre-Columbian, Mexico to Guatemala, Mezcala, 500 to 200 BCE; Maya, Early to Late Classic Period, ca. 250 to 900 CE; Aztec, ca. 1300 to 1500 CE. A collection of beads and ornaments from ancient Mesoamerica- shell ear flares, a quartz bead, a greenstone figure, and a stone pendant. the Aztec were masters of lapidary, and the rock crystal bead is polished to a spherical shape, this would have been a highly desirable gemstone full of allure due to the near translucent material. The Mezcala axe god figure, hand-carved with minimalist, string-cut features. The shell rings are etched with abstract spiraling shapes and may have been attached to a cylindrical piece that fit through an ear lobe. The large white stone pendant is drilled for suspension and has linear markings engraved into the face. Size of stone pendant: 2.7" L x 1.8" W (6.9 cm x 4.6 cm)

Chips and abrasions to white stone pendant and area of brown patina and mineral deposits. Chips to ear spools and one is repaired from 3 pieces. Quartz bead is intact and very good. Light abrasions and nicks to greenstone figure, otherwise intact.
