North America, USA, ca. 1903 CE. A handsome Edison Standard Phonograph, Model C, with an oak cabinet and lid with the company name painted on one side. The cabinet opens using two small metal hinges at the sides to reveal the playing mechanism. A crank arm is at one side. A metal plate on the bedplate casting gives the serial number: "S333330" (a total of around 820,000 were produced). The style of the cabinet was designed to fit into a parlor without looking out of place or bulky, as phonographs like this one were marketed to middle income homes in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. This example is accompanied by 9 cardboard cylinder cases, with 7 cylinders. The phonograph appears functional but has not been tried. Size: 9.05" L x 12.95" W x 13.25" H (23 cm x 32.9 cm x 33.7 cm)

Condition
This does not include the brass bell horn. The phonograph itself is otherwise in beautiful condition with light patina on its brass components. A few of the cylinders have some small losses. The phonograph and cylinders all appear functional but have not been tried.
