About the artist: "Max Harrison Blain of Spring City and Mount Pleasant, Utah, was a rather well-known realist landscape painter (snow scenes, houses, trees, mountain ranges, roadways, etc.) who studied with John H. Stansfield (q.v.). He worked in oils and transparent watercolors and was a secondary schoolteacher-artist of note in Sanpete County. Blain became art supervisor for the North Sanpete School District. He was a graduate of Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, as well as Brigham Young University, and exhibited in New York City and many towns and campuses throughout the West. Blain is best known for his western landscapes; at least three paintings by him are in the Snow College Collection." (source: artist's bio on Springville Museum of Art website)

Signed at lower right and on verso with title. Mounted in custom frame. Some miniscule stains and surface grime and minor streak of gold pigment to upper left, but imagery is still clear and painting is in overall very good condition. Areas of nicks and abrasions to frame and tearing to gallery paper on verso; none of which affect painting. Suspension wire on verso for display.
