Western Europe, Spain, ca. 1650 to 1700 CE. A beautiful broadsword forged from steel of a double-edged design bearing a triple fuller down the first 25% of the body. Inscribed between each of the three fullers are the Spanish statements "No Me Saques Sin Razon" on one face and "No Me Enbaines Sin Honor" on the other (literally "do not take me out without reason" and "do not sheath me without honor") with a petite crucifix beneath each of the bottom scrollwork borders. The hemispherical cup hilt surrounds the top of the wire-wrapped handle above a pair of narrow quillons to protect the hand of the swordsman, and a semicircular finger guard stretches from the quillons to the center of the spherical pommel. Size: 39.375" L x 11.9" W (100 cm x 30.2 cm)

Very slight bending to blade profile, with minor oxidation and encrustations to blade and cup hilt, and light pitting in some scattered areas, otherwise intact and excellent. Great patina throughout and nice preservation to inscriptions on shoulder.
