Central Asia, Uzbekistan, ca. mid-20th century CE. A gorgeous woven silk ikat textile cloth of an enormous size, with the obverse featuring attractive S-form motifs in yellow, white, and pink hues atop a fuchsia ground. The cotton verso displays dense drop-form motifs among a field of thick, leafy vines, and the periphery is lined with colorful floral strips on a crimson ground. Ikat textiles refers both to the textile itself as well as the resist-dyeing process that gives these textiles their brilliant coloration. Size: 61.125" W x 90.5" H (155.3 cm x 229.9 cm).
