Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 100 to 600 CE. A gorgeous and wearable necklace made from vibrant blue sodalite with creamy yellow veining. The necklace is composed of seventy-three carved sodalite beads, six carved greenstone beads, and a central sodalite pendant depicting a stylized anthropomorphic figure. Each bead has a rounded body, flattened top and bottom faces, and small suspension holes drilled through the center. Traces of chalky white pigment are presented within some recessed areas of the figure. Strung with modern string and capped with a modern loop and lobster clasp. Size (necklace): 17.25" L (43.8 cm); size (pendant): 1.1" H (2.8 cm).
