- Lot Description
Native American, Southeast or Midwest, Missouri, Saint Francis County, Mississippian, ca. 900 to 1543 CE. A wonderful pottery jar presenting a globular body with a brief neck and a slightly flared rim above a deep basin, all sitting upon a round yet stable base. Enveloped in mottled hues of tan and gray, the delightful vessel displays a petite pair of vertical handles that flanks its wide mouth, connecting rim to shoulder. Size: 4.9" Diameter x 3.5" H (12.4 cm x 8.9 cm)
Provenance: private Kansas City, Missouri, USA collection; ex-John Townsend collection, USA formed in the 1970's and earlier
