Europe, Neoclassical, ca. 19th century CE. A gorgeous Neoclassical carnelian intaglio ring with a modern 58% gold (equivalent to 12K+) setting. The intaglio is finely carved with a profile bust of a female, likely representing a Hellenistic goddess, her hair drawn up and secured with a diadem, lovely ringlets gracing her cheek. The gold shank is smooth and gently curved and provides a beautiful complement to the vermilion hues of the stone. Size (ring): 1" in diameter x 1.1" H (2.5 cm x 2.8 cm); (intaglio): 1" L x 0.75" W (2.5 cm x 1.9 cm); quality of gold: 58% (equivalent to 12K+); total weight: 15.7 grams; US ring size 12.
