Western Europe, Neoclassical, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. This is a fine glass intaglio set into a 53.29% to 53.86% (equivalent to 12K+) gold bezel. The circular glass is an opaque wine-red hue and engraved with a bust of a soldier in profile, a Corinthian style helmet is pushed back unto his brow to reveal his bearded face and straight, Grecian nose. The intaglio is set in an open backed bezel, and a pair of thick gold wires arch up from the sides of the bezel, and terminate with an elegant, hooked tips.
