East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th to 20th century CE. A delightful pair of stoneware jardinieres offering a glimpse into the era's refined aesthetics. Each rectangular vessel showcases a vibrant, high-relief scene of blossoming flowers, lush foliage, and graceful cranes. These auspicious symbols are brought to life through a rich palette of lustrous glazes – the deep shimmer of emerald, the warm glow of marigold, the rich depth of aubergine, the purity of white, and the striking intensity of cobalt. Beyond their visual appeal, these jardinieres offer a hint of practical elegance with their copper interiors, likely intended to protect the stoneware and nurture delicate plantings. Elevated by four-legged iron bases, these pieces beautifully blend traditional symbolism and craftsmanship, reflecting a Qing era appreciation for nature and elegant design often found in the homes of scholars and prosperous merchants. Size (both the same): 8" L x 19.5" W x 20.5" H (20.3 cm x 49.5 cm x 52.1 cm)
