Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Beringian / Old Bering Sea Culture, Punuk & Thule to Inuit, ca. 200 BCE to 1800 CE. A collection of four carved tools and artifacts crafted for various hunting and daily life tasks, and made from the bones of marine mammals, likely walrus, seal, or possibly ungulates such as caribou. The collection includes three flattened panels with drilled holes for attachment, the purpose of which remains uncertain. However, it is possible that these were armor panels, sewn onto a larger tunic for warrior protection. The largest piece features a wedge-shaped area and a short handle grip. Size of largest: 10.5" L x 1.2" W (26.7 cm x 3 cm); case: 12" L x 8" W (30.5 cm x 20.3 cm)
