M. Campbell (American, early 20th century). Untitled still life, watercolor and gouache on paper, 1936. Signed and dated on the lower right. A beautiful still life painting presenting a large bouquet of flowers - open blooms of golden yellow, champagne pink, and crimson hues - in a royal blue vase resting on a spring green plate upon a windowsill that is dressed with a decorative brocade of warm cranberry and cool azure blue hues; the window in turn is dressed with white curtains that have been drawn to reveal the clear blue sky beyond. All is delineated in an airy, light Post-Impressionist style and set in an attractive double matte of white and blue coloration behind glass with a warm caramel-hued wood frame. Condition
Painting has not been examined outside the frame. A tear is visible at the upper left corner and slight waviness, but otherwise very nice. Signed and dated on the lower right. Double matte, glass, and wooden frame are intact. A few minor tears to gallery paper on verso that do not impact the image. Wired for suspension.
