Classical World, Etruria (Italy), Archaic Period, ca. late 7th to early 6th century BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery alabastron (perfume vial) with a series of distinctive ribs layered across the exterior surfaces. A painted ring motif adorns the rim and rib rings in black and red atop a cream ground while horizontal stripes decorate the handle and a program of frets or tongues embellish the shoulder; the base also features bullseye-style rings. Size: 2.375" W x 3.75" H (6 cm x 9.5 cm)
