Latin America, Mexico, Chihuahua, Tarahumara (Raramuri), ca. 21st century CE. Two long, handwoven Tarahumara belts, each showcasing intricate geometric and symbolic patterns in contrasting tones, bordered with vivid stripes and finished with multicolored braided tassels. One example is crafted from both hand-spun and commercial wool, in natural brown and cream with pink, yellow, blue, and purple accents; the other in wool and yarn, featuring bold black-and-white motifs with red, green, and blue borders. These belts reflect the Tarahumara tradition of backstrap loom weaving. Size: 68.5" L x 3" W (174 cm x 7.6 cm)
