• Lot Description
  Wool on cotton, the indigo field centered by an ivory lozenge medallion of floral sprays with palmette pendants, the ground with flowering vine, rosettes and serrated leaves, the rose spandrels with matching vinery, within an indigo main border of palmettes and serrated leaves between ivory guard stripes of meandering vine. Natural abrash. Persian, ca. 1900's/1910's

  Condition

  Very Good. Pile full across the field with crisp drawing and strong colour; localized low pile in the olive and dark brown motifs, consistent with the usual corrosion of those dyes. Fringes reduced and uneven at both ends with partial loss to the end finish, and a small area of loss at one corner. Selvedges original, thin and lightly frayed in places. A few small dark flecks in the ivory medallion and natural abrash in the indigo field. Lies slightly out of square. No holes, tears, stains or visible reweaving.
