• Lot Description
  Hand-knotted Bijar carpet, the aubergine field with an allover Herati lattice of rosettes and lanceolate leaves in blue, rose, green and ivory, centered by a teal hexagonal medallion with pendant finials and matching dark corner spandrels. Ivory-ground main border of turtle palmettes on a vine, between multiple floral guard stripes. Dense wool pile on a cotton foundation, with fringe at both ends.

  Condition

  Very Good. Dense wool pile full and even throughout; drawing crisp and colors strong, with no low or bare areas, holes or moth damage observed. One end is reinforced on the reverse with an applied red vinyl binding tape, stitched in place; the other end is unreinforced. Fringes present at both ends, clean with minor loss; selvedges intact and secure. Reverse otherwise shows an even, regular weave with no patching or reweaving. No staining or water marks noted. Lies flat and square.
