The image of Classical seated female figure, possibly a study for a larger work, in style of Francesco Albani (Italian, 1578-1660), red chalk on heavy paper, signed illegibly in the lower right corner, matted, unframed. It is reminiscent of figure drawings from the Renaissance to baroque periods, likely late 16th or 17th century, potentially Italian or French in origin. Stamped with ex-libris DHHF on the back lower right corner.
Provenance: old private collection of David H.H. Felix, Philadelphia, PA; by descent in the family to the current owner.
Condition
As is, creases throughout, separation line to the left center, time toning; matting with stain residues, originally attached to the back board with top hinged papers, later secured with tape along the matt border.
