A unique novelty clock inspired by a 1744 song book rhyme. The wooden mouse is driven up the clock case to keep time on a linear scale using arabic numerals for hours and hash marks in five minute intervals. A chain is stretched from the clock works at the bottom of the case to a cogged stanchion at the top go the case. The mouse is pulled up the chain by three equally spaced tabs. Dome bell strikes the hour. Paper label inside case identifies the maker as Duncan and Krump, Philadelphia, with detailed instructions to setup the clock. Original key included.
Condition
Runs and chimes correctly, has not been serviced in decades. Would benefit from a strip and clean, and some fine tuning, as it climbs but jams at the upper one o'clock position.
