• Lot Description
  "View in Venice", Oil on canvas, no signature found, in gilt frame. A sweeping Venetian veduta by Edward Pritchett, known for his luminous and meticulously detailed cityscapes. This grand-scale composition presents the bustling Piazzetta San Marco, populated with elegantly dressed figures, and looks across the Grand Canal toward the domes of Santa Maria della Salute and the Dogana. Pritchett’s distinctive style combines architectural precision with an airy, romantic atmosphere that reflects the enduring appeal of Venice during the Grand Tour era. Presented in a richly carved and giltwood frame.

  Craquelure, some minor areas of flaking, prior conservation, relined, old tears with corresponding visible under uv light. Conservation report from Kenneth Bé from the Cleveland Museum of Art from 1990.
