Condition
The oil painting on canvas includes its original canvas and a secondary fabric lining support. The lining support is of quality and in sound condition overall. The painting on canvas is attached to its auxiliary support, a solid, quality, five-member, key-able, wood stretcher with half-lap joins. All eight stretcher keys are present; six are in place keeping the painting evenly tensioned; one key has loosened and is stored at the reverse of the stretcher, and another key is present between the bottom stretcher member and the canvas verso. Localized areas of the paint layer show past restoration under ultraviolet examination. Select areas include craquelure and light flaking with a few minor losses in the paint and ground layer. There is a varnish layer on the surface of the painting overall.
