Medium low dense silky wool pile on cotton foundation. Hand-knotted Sarouk runner, the deep rose field with an allover design of detached floral sprays, palmettes and leafy stems in navy, ivory, gold and olive, drawn without a central medallion. Ivory-ground main border of flowerheads on a serpentine vine, between navy guard stripes, with fringe at both ends. Persian, ca. 1970's.
Condition
Very Good, with little evidence of use. Wool pile full and even throughout; drawing crisp and colors strong, with no low or bare areas, holes or moth damage observed. Faint horizontal fold lines across the field from storage. Fringes present, clean and even at both ends; selvedges intact and secure. Reverse shows a fine, even weave with no repairs, patching or reweaving. No staining or water marks noted. Slight waviness along one edge; lies acceptably flat.
