• Lot Description
  A collection of twelve hinged enamel-on-copper and porcelain trinket boxes by noted English and French makers, including Halcyon Days Enamels (England), Staffordshire Enamels, one designed by Tiffany & Co., an example from the Gilbert Collection, and several hand-painted Limoges (France, peint main) figural boxes. The figural examples comprise a Scottish Terrier, a costumed White Rabbit with trumpet, a basket of tulips, a seated fairy, a Bulldog on a cushion and a spaniel; the remainder are oval and circular lidded boxes with floral, foliate and commemorative decoration, several with printed interior inscriptions (Gilbert Collection, "Years of the Dog," and others). Gilt-metal mounts throughout. Various sizes, the largest approx. 2-1/2" wide. A number retain their original presentation boxes.

  Condition

  Very good. Bright enamel and porcelain surfaces with clean gilt-metal mounts; hinges present and functional. No chips or losses noted. Several retain original boxes and retail labels.
