• Lot Description
  Hand-knotted Heriz rug, the blue-black field with three stepped star-form medallions in ivory, rose and rust, surrounded by angular serrated leaves, rosettes and small animal and bird figures, with ivory corner spandrels. Multiple borders of serrated leaf and vine motifs on dark and rust grounds. Wool pile on a cotton foundation, with fringe at both ends.

  Condition

  Very Good. Wool pile full and even, with only light overall wear; design crisp and colors strong, with no low or bare areas, holes or moth damage observed. Light natural abrash. Fringes present at both ends, clean and trimmed short with minor loss; selvedges intact and secure. Reverse shows an even weave with no repairs, patching or reweaving. No staining or water marks noted. Slight curl along one edge; lies acceptably flat.
