• Lot Description
  Louis Vuitton wardrobe trunk (malle armoire), early-to-mid 20th century. Constructed in the classic manner with LV monogram-coated canvas over a timber carcass, bound in leather and lozine, with lacquered beech slats, brass corner caps, brass tack detailing, leather carrying handles, brass side catches, and a stamped brass Louis Vuitton lock (numbered). The front and top bear a hand-painted owner's identification roundel centered with the letter "B" in red, orange, and yellow concentric bands. Opening to a fitted vertical interior retaining its original tan cloth lining, hinged hanging bar, tie-down garment straps, and a lidded compartment. Accompanied by two original Louis Vuitton wooden coat hangers, each stamped "MADE IN FRANCE BY LOUIS VUITTON, PARIS-LONDON."

  Condition

  Good overall, with wear consistent with age and travel use. Scuffing, rubbing, and scattered losses to the leather trim and corner caps; abrasion and small losses to the monogram canvas throughout. The reverse with pronounced water staining, discoloration, and lifting/loss to the canvas covering, and canvas lifting along one edge. Hand-painted owner's roundel with minor paint loss/flaking to the red band. Brass hardware tarnished/patinated but appears complete; lock present. Interior lining toned and stained with light abrasion; garment straps present, one webbing strap frayed. Two accompanying hangers present, both stamped; one with staining and minor edge loss. Structurally sound and closing.
