Of elongated pear form with a tall cylindrical neck, decorated in relief with large floral and scrolling foliate motifs applied over a turquoise-green body, accented with aubergine and pale cream glazes in the Fahua palette. The molded decoration stands in crisp relief against the deeply saturated glaze, showing subtle crackle and variegated surface consistent with age. The rim unglazed, as is the recessed foot revealing a buff-to-reddish stoneware body.
Condition
Areas of typical glaze wear and surface pitting, scattered small flakes to the glaze particularly around shoulder high points and foot edge, firing imperfections and glaze crawl consistent with period wares; overall presenting well. The neck has been altered — likely reduced or cut down from the original form.
