• Lot Description
  A rectangular rawhide document or dispatch case, constructed from a single piece of stiff hide folded and laced along the sides with narrow cut hide thongs. The front panel is decorated in bold polychrome pigments—green, red, and black—forming classic hourglass and bar motifs often associated with Plains geometric design traditions. The flap secures with an integral hide tie, with additional suspension thongs at the upper corners. The reverse is plain, showing natural age toning and wear.

  Condition

  Surface wear, some rubbing to pigments, minor stiffness and age-related toning to hide, losses to some tie elements.
