This mask features bold facial carvings, intricate rattan weaving, cowrie shell inlays, and traditional pigment designs, representing ancestral spirits and ceremonial traditions of the Sepik culture.<br> Elaborate Sepik masks like this are traditionally used in rituals, initiations, and tribal celebrations, often hung inside spirit houses (haus tambaran) or mounted onto ceremonial dance costumes.
