• Lot Description
  Enamel on copper, a whimsical and bold mid-century modern wall plate by noted artist Thelma Winter. The plate features a stylized owl perched on abstract pine-like branches beneath a full moon and stars, all executed in textured relief and layered glazes. Rich earth tones are offset with pops of turquoise and chartreuse, framed by a teal rim. Thelma Winter, a mid-century ceramicist active in Cleveland, OH, was known for her vibrant, playful designs and hand-painted decorative work. The reverse is incised “Winter” and fitted with a metal wall hanger, indicating the piece was intended as wall art.
