Three carved jade beasts, each worked in the round in a recumbent pose with the head lowered, ears laid back and limbs drawn beneath the body, the tails curled along the haunches and the manes and spines picked out with incised striations. The smallest of mottled celadon tone, the carver reserving the stone's dark charcoal skin for the mask and forepaws, raised on an acrylic stand; the two larger of mottled grey-green stone with russet and dark inclusions. Chinese.
Condition
Very Good overall. Stone with natural russet veining and dark inclusions throughout. Scattered light surface scratches and minor abrasion to the high points — muzzles, ears and paws. No chips, cracks or repairs apparent. One acrylic display stand included; the two larger figures without stands.
