• Lot Description
  Hand-knotted Turkoman rug, the deep red field with two columns of quartered octagonal guls in dark brown and ivory, within a dark-ground surround of stepped star rosettes. Multiple narrow borders of small geometric motifs, with elem panels at each end. All-wool with natural abrash in the field, and fringe at both ends.

  Condition

  Very Good. Wool pile full with light overall wear; design clear and colors deep, with natural abrash banding in the field. No holes, tears or moth damage observed; no low or bare areas noted. Fringes present at both ends, uneven and lightly frayed with minor loss; selvedges intact. Reverse shows an even weave with a few loose threads but no repairs, patching or reweaving. No staining or water marks noted. Slight waviness along the edges; lies acceptably flat.
