(pair) Large Japanese Imari porcelain vases and covers, Meiji period (1868-1912), with bronze dore mounts, approx 30"h, 15"w, 11"d, 62.25lbs total
CR 8.20.25-In my opinion regarding LOT 3212: Both vases stand sturdy, the ormolu mounts remaining secure throughout, with a few spots of inherent adhesive residue at the body of both vases and near joinery points, the gilding retaining an overall rich tone, with sparse minor pitting and spotting, close visual and UV light examination reveals inpainting and some typical minor firing flaws to both of the rock-form finials with bird (see images), one of the covers also with minor inpainting at the rim, the other vase with areas of restoration and inpainting throughout the body, particularly at the shoulders, and a small hairline at the central body (see images under UV and natural light), I observe typical minor rubs to the gilt enamel and some small flaked glaze losses commensurate with age and use
