(1) U.S. Army Model 1895 Officer Forage Hat, having an open bullion wreath with a single star, gilt bands around the circumference of the hat, side buttons are U.S. General Service with eagle head facing to it's right, the leather brim is complete but loose on one side and has surface wear, the interior lining is good, the sweat band tag appears to be 6.3/4 size, partially rubbed off maker label of "The Henderson Ames o, Kalamazoo, Mich. at center interior, hat approx. 3.1/8"h, 9"w, 6.75"d; (1) U.S. Army Shako hat bearing the 1860 French Chausseur front plate denoting the infantry, in 1861 the U.S. Government imported 10,000 French uniforms, the hats having the same style front plate, a brass 4.1/8" high plate with eagle, painted federal shield at its' breast over the centered bugle and black paint with some loss, the hat brim edge is set in brass, retains a size "7" tag at the interior, sweat band is present but separated with slight loss, shako appears in good condition, hat lacks side buttons, leather at top and brim has surface fissures, dents in body at back likely steam removable, hat at front including brim approx. 6.5"h, 9"w, 7.5d, for shipping total of both approx. 1.10lbs **Provenance: Collection of T'Odon Charles (Chuck) Leshikar, Jr., (Texas,1946-2020), Vietnam, U.S. Army Lt. ,“Delta Raiders,” D Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Airborne Infantry Regiment, later Echo Company commander, Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, Soldiers Medal, Purple Heart.
