(lot of 5) Extraordinary folk art retablo installation, comprised of five large framed plaques, each bearing the mark of Jesus Guerrero Santos (Jalisco, Mexico, b.1939), dated [20]03, depicting the Virgen de Guadalupe (Virgin of Guadalupe/ Our Lady of Guadalupe) in four apparitions, appearing to Saint Juan Diego, and his conveyance of the annunciation with a holy gift to Juan de Zumarraga, Archbishop of Mexico, hand-painted majolica panels with figural scenes in low relief, each housed in an ovular chased aplaca silver frame, with copper appliques and twisted rope trim, including: (4) The Marian Apparitions, each sight: approx 14.5"h, 9.5"w, overall: approx 23"h, 17.75"w; (1) Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, ovular reflector crest with radiating rays, above dual majolica cherub masks, sight: approx 27.75"h, 19"w, overall: approx 53.5"h, 32"w; 86lbs total **Provenance: purchased in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in 2004**
