   Handwritten resolution dated January 13, 1852, two pages, signed by John Wilson (1790-1877), Chairman of the California Whig Party and others appointing P.A. Brinsmade Esq as a "Special Messenger" to Washington "to lay before the President and his Cabinet such facts and arguments as shall be best calculated to secure prompt and efficient actions in respect to official appointments to be given for the employment of appropriations already made in the public service in California", slight tears at folds, 10"h, 8"w, Note: Peter Allan Brinsmade was the first American Consul to the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii) and a prominent businessman of the era.
