- Lot Description
Chinese carved amethyst vase and cover, the cover and the face of tapered vase with elaborate openwork carved roses, rising on hardwood stand, housed in fitted box, vase with cover: approx 6.5"h, 4.75"w, 3"d, overall on stand: approx 8"h, box: approx 4.25"h, 9.5"w, 9.5"d, 3.5lbs
Condition
9.25.25 - In my opinion regarding LOT: 3492 –the covered vase is overall intact and stands sturdy, a UV light examination reveals natural banding, fissures and inclusions within the stone, I observe minor stable hairlines including one at the rim of the mouth as shown, and in the leaves, the carved foliate elements display scattered roughness and minute chips to high points and tips typical for this carving, light chipping and wear are present at the rim and underfoot consistent with the lid contacting the collar and with handling and storage, the lid exhibits the same characteristics and similar small edge nicks and roughness and it seats properly as shown, adhesive residue is visible where the piece has been secured to the carved wood base as pictured, the base itself with typical light wear
