English Edwardian carved walnut mantle clock, early 20th c., with gilt-brass mounts, having arched cornice with turned vasiform finials, above glazed dial door, silver-tone metal chapter ring with Roman numeral hour markers, time-and-strike movement marked Junghans, flanked by figural scrolled caryatid corner mounts, lower plaque with inscription reading "Presented to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stonehouse, on the occasion of their marriage, June 12th, 1905," rising on front paw feet, accompanied by pendulum and key, time movement observed operating, would likely benefit from a professional inspection to ensure accurate time-keeping, approx 19.75"h, 13.5"w, 7.75"d, 13.25lbs
Condition
08/11/2026: In my opinion regarding LOT: 2130- the case is overall clean and in sturdy and stable condition, I note only some scattered small rubs, a few spots to finish, minor nicks and general light wear, metal exhibits patination, some spotting and darkening, as mentioned in the catalog description, the time movement was observed operating and the clock appeared to keep good time for five minutes, the striker mallets have been bent out of place so as to not strike the coil gong precisely (this is common on antique clocks), this lot is accompanied by a well-fitting pendulum and key, the piece winds with ease and the movement readily responds to winding, the suspension spring is intact, as with all of our antique clocks, this piece would likely benefit from a professional inspection to ensure accurate time-keeping and a thorough cleaning of the movement
