- Lot Description
English Regency mahogany bookcase cabinet, early 19th c., dentil molded cornice, above a pair of geometrically-glazed cabinet doors, the lower section with two pull-out writing rests, pair of paneled cabinet doors, on ogee bracket feet, approx 93.5"h, 58"w, 20.5"d
Condition
CR 8.26.25 - In my opinion regarding LOT 2313: The bookcase retains keys for the upper and lower cabinets, the upper cabinet is lacking shelves. I note that the bookcase stands sturdy and appears structurally secure throughout. The finish with some typical slight tonal variations associated with light fading and spotting commensurate with age, as well as a few minute fills and finish touch ups (see images). A review of the glazing reveals some replaced panes of glass (identifiable by a flat appearance, whereas original glass has a waved appearance, however this does not capture well on camera). Glass is free from observed hairlines/ fractures or chipping and remains securely encased within doors. The slides operate smoothly, one with central panel separation remaining intact and stable. The interior shelving of the lower case appears to remain sturdy. The left side panel of the upper case with a reinforced split at the lower quadrant that remains stable. I observe sparse typical minor surface wear such as light abrasions, minor finish wear, and small nicks commensurate with age and use
