French Renaissance Revival walnut buffet deux corps, 19th c., having pierced gallery with central grotesque mask, over molded stepped cornice issuing tracery, arched/ inward-curving back panel with incised foliate scrollwork, raised on fluted twist columnar supports, over medial shelves with spindled gallery, centering double-door cabinet revealing adjustable-height shelf, lower case fitted with three floral lunette drawers, spaced by grotesque masks, over three cabinets with carved paneling of a fire-breathing drake and scrolled cartouches, rising on front bun feet, approx 106"h, 64"w, 22.75"d
CR 6.10.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 3299- the cabinet is impressive and exhibits a warm patina, it well carved throughout, drawers and cabinet doors operate well, interiors show some light staining and wear, the structure shows some overall tonal variation, light spotting, surface wear/mars, and minor wood wear/small losses, the upper cabinet door has a small loss at trim panel, and the larger central lower cabinet door appears to possibly have a loss to trim edge as it is uneven, there is a mar visible at upper canopy along the shelf edge, I am unable to fully view the top surfaces, the work surface has some darkening, light old ring stains and two small raised areas, one with a small split, see images, and a few light mars, the panels appear good with crisp carvings, two griffin carved panels (one at each mid-side) do show gapping/separation, however are stable and held by the carved griffin, all mentioned very minor and commensurate with the 19thc. age and use of the piece
