- Lot Description
French Louis Philippe burled walnut display bookcase, mid 19th c., having stepped cornice, over four glazed cabinet doors, revealing shelved interior, lower case fitted with four drawers above four paneled cabinet doors, gilt metal scrolled and lyre escutcheons, rising on shaped feet, small wood chips along cornice, approx 86"h, 91.5"w, 25.75 "d
Condition
CR 5.1.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 4303- the structure remains overall intact and stands sturdy, the glazed panes are free of apparent chips or cracks, the wood case displays inherent characteristics including knots, wood lines, and scattered minor imperfections, the top work surface exhibits overall spotting/staining, darkening and some rings, there is expected evidence of old woodworm consistent with the piece’s origin, the crown remains intact with an old restorations and small areas of wood loss along the top, there is wood wear, tonal variation, nicks and light abrasions to case, the doors and drawers function smoothly, the interior pink liner shows wear with dirt accumulation and scattered losses, the cabinet would benefit from a thorough cleaning, shelf supports are present (most stored in a drawer currently), a full view of the side panels is not possible due to gallery placement, please refer to the online images for review, all observed wear and imperfections are consistent with origin, age, and use
