- Lot Description
French Louis Philippe period marble-top commode, mid 19th c., the front in highly figured burlwood veneers, ogee frieze drawer, above three additional drawers, on block feet, approx 38"h, 51.25"w, 23.5"d
Condition
CR 8.19.25-In my opinion regarding LOT 2376: Please note that the commode is currently staged in a dim corridor of our gallery and images may appear darker than they are in person, I note that the commode stands sturdy, the marble top with only a few minor chips along unfinished back edge, as are typical, the drawers operating smoothly with little to no resistance, the top and lowermost drawer with later lock plates, I observe filled reinforcement at the narrow seam of some minor separation at sides, and there are some scattered fills to the front façade of case, mostly near drawer edges and most being quite small in size (see images), I observe minor evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin, and typical minor surface wear such as abrasions, small chips, and nicks commensurate with age and use
