- Lot Description
French Louis XVI style mahogany commode, 20th c., shaped marble top, over the conforming case fitted with three long drawers, flanked by fluted corner posts, on tapered legs, approx 32.5"h, 46.75"w, 20.5"d
Condition
4.27.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 3260-the gallery is overflowing with merchandise for this auction, the chest positioned in a cramped, slightly dim area,I used the flash for the first two images to better highlight the piece, I am unable to fully view the side panels and refer you to online images for a complete views, the structure is stable and sturdy, the marble top exhibits typical small imperfections including minute roughness and chipping along the edges, a natural rough back edge, and scattered small black pock marks along the backside, very minor, please see images, the marble top would benefit from a gentle cleaning to remove sticker residue, the wood case remains sturdy displaying light tonal variation, minor nicks, minor rubs, abrasions, and slight surface wear, the drawers function well but would likely benefit from a good waxing to facilitate smoother movement, interiors are largely clean, the drawers exhibit a slight musty odor that could be resolved by airing them out, all mentioned wear is minor and commensurate with the age and use of the piece
