French Louis XVI style mahogany commode, 19th c., having shaped marble top, over three drawers with shield-form escutcheons, flanked by fluted corner posts, rising on tapering legs, chip to marble at back right corner, staining to top, right side panel intact with stable age-related seams with bowing to the panel surface, wood wear/losses along drawer edges, approx 34.5"h, 43"w, 22.25"d
Condition
10/20/2026: In my opinion regarding LOT : 3411- the commode is in stable and sturdy condition exhibiting age and use, as listed, the marble top is intact with a large chip/loss at the rear corner, see image, along with typical smaller chips/roughness along the edges, scattered yellowing and staining/discoloration, some divots, and surface abrasions, the wood case exhibits a mellowed and varied patina with nicks, rubs, abrasions, small losses and some gouges, most notably along the drawer edges, see images, drawers open and operate, however would likely benefit from waxing to facilitate smoother movement, two drawers retain worn affixed liners, drawer bottoms appear stable, the second drawer is lacking its lock mechanism, side panels show wear with the right side exhibiting age-related wood movement with visible seams and areas of stable undulation/bowing to the panel surfaces, the legs remain sturdy with brass collars present, the feet appear to be without brass caps, however I cannot confirm whether these were originally fitted, overall the commode presents with substantial age-related character and wear commensurate with its age, construction and use
