- Lot Description
French Louis XVI style mahogany commode, early 19th c., having rectangular marble top, over three drawers with brass trim, rising on squared and tapered legs, ending on brass cap feet, exhibiting age, the top with discoloration, marble edge with chipping, some typical small stable splits and fill to side panels, , approx 35"h, 46"w, 23.75"d
Condition
In my opinion regarding LOT: 4150- the commode is early 19thc. and exhibits age, the case is highly reflective so pardon any white glare, the case stands sturdy, the marble top has been shimmed to stabilize it, it is heavily worn and discolored with consistent chips to edges and corners, the marble top sits slightly SQ, I know chipping throughout the top and bottom edges, the case stands sturdy, wood exhibits a few old professional patches on upright, small wood wear and losses, some nicks and general wear, drawers slide well but would benefit from a good waxing, interiors have a worn liner that shows dirt and is musty, I would suggest removing the liner, however do not know what the interior drawers look like under it, they are stable, metal trim has some dents and spotting, side panels have stable typical separation, please refer to online images to view as I cannot access them at this time, overall the piece is in antique condition showing wear all the piece is in antique condition showing wear
