- Lot Description
Italian Neoclassical walnut commode, 18th c., having rectangular top, over three drawers, rising on short tapered square supports, approx 33.25"h, 47"w, 22.75"d
Condition
CR 5.1.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 3257- the case is overall sturdy exhibiting wear as commensurate with age origin, and use, the top is stable and intact, top planks are joined by old wood filled strip, there is some typical overall darkening/rings/spotting, and small areas of fill, the top is slightly bowed at the front, the case is intact with some inherent knots, light wood wear/small losses and minor imperfections, I note evidence of old wood worm scattered about, drawers slide well, drawer bottoms feel sturdy, they are not visible as they are lined with worn (dirty,torn) old contact paper which would benefit from being replaced, the top drawers has a small gap in the bottom panel where it connect to drawer, see image, again all mentioned commensurate with the antique age, origin and use
