- Lot Description
Japanese six-panel floor screen, ink, color and gold leaf on paper, Meiji period (1868-1912), depicting groups of figures partaking in various leisure activities, garden pavilion with plum and pine trees, a mountainous landscape beyond, signed in black ink with red seals lower right, each panel: approx 67"h, 25"w
Condition
CR 8.19.25-In my opinion regarding LOT 3386: I have re-measured the screen and confirmed that EACH PANEL measures approximately 25”w (see images); I note that the screen stands sturdy, the hinges remain tight and secure, the screen unfolding smoothly, close visual and UV light examination reveals scattered areas of restoration at the site of back paper tears and small losses, which is commensurate with age and use, most of these spots with gilt-painted concealment, I observe typical minor flaked losses and spotting of the gold leaf, the painted elements are overall well-preserved with some small flaked pigment losses, and a few small spots of inpainting (see images), which is also typical and commensurate with age, please refer to attached images
