Monumental Chinese black lacquered twelve-panel floor screen, depicting phoenix and songbirds in lush flowering landscape, the border decorated with "hundred antiques" motifs, each panel: approx 107"h, 20"w
Condition
02.06.26 - In my opinion regarding LOT 3263: The screen is comprised of three sets of four hinged panels, each set interlocking with one another, each standing sturdy, the black lacquer finish exhibits typical small flaked and chipped losses, mostly occurring near edges, the polychrome decoration is overall well-preserved, remaining vibrant and legible, two of the panels having an area of discoloration and lacquer loss at the upper quadrant, seemingly attributed to an isolated exposure to moisture, I observe scattered small lacquer touch-ups with a slight tonal variation, and typical minor surface wear such as the aforementioned lacquer chipping, abrasions, and scuffs commensurate with age and use, the metal cladding the straight legs remains secure with patination and spotting
