Scottish Georgian style mahogany grandfather clock, Alexander Gill and Son, Aberdeen, 19th c., having split pediment with gilt-metal floral medallions, glazed and arched bonnet encasing silver-toned metal dial, brass dial surround, chapter ring with Roman numeral hour markers, and Arabic minute markers, two subdials, time-and-strike movement, the case with urn marquetry and stringwork trim, rising on bracket feet, stable splits to crest, accompanied by pendulum, lacking weights, pulley cables tangled in case, operational status unknown, approx 83"h, 18"w, 9.5"d
02.06.26 - In my opinion regarding LOT: 2249- the case is in sturdy and stable condition, the wood exhibits some lines/splits and patched repairs, one curve at the pediment is intact with repair, see image, inlays are largely present and intact, the lowercase exhibits a stable split/separation to the panel, the metal face was examined in case, I note some rubs, variation to the patina and surface wear, as mentioned in the catalog description, the clock is accompanied by a pendulum but is lacking weights, the pulleys and cables for the weights are present, but the cables are significantly tangled within the case, it is extremely difficult to wind the clock with the cables in this configuration, we did not attempt to unwind the tangled cables, the bell and striker are present and resound nicely when manually struck, as with all of our antique clocks, this piece would likely benefit from a professional adjustment and a thorough cleaning of the movement
