Description:
This is a vintage Westclox “Pocket Ben” pocket watch, one of the most recognizable and widely used American timepieces of the early to mid-20th century. Produced by the Western Clock Company (Westclox), this watch represents the brand’s dedication to providing affordable, reliable timekeeping for everyday use — a hallmark of American manufacturing during the industrial age.
The cream-tone dial is marked “Westclox – Pocket Ben” and features bold Arabic numerals in black, paired with blued-steel hands and a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position. The design offers both simplicity and functionality, characteristic of Westclox’s utilitarian approach.
The nickel-plated case retains a clean, rounded profile with a smooth back showing light wear from decades of use. Its screw-on back and crown-set design make it durable and easy to maintain. The interior of the watch movement is stamped “Made in U.S.A.”, confirming its domestic origin and solid construction.
The mechanical movement displays the rugged, mass-produced engineering that made Westclox a household name for accessible and dependable timepieces throughout the 1930s to 1950s.
This example shows light surface wear and age-related patina to both the case and dial, but remains a visually appealing collector’s piece and an authentic representation of early 20th-century American industrial craftsmanship.
