George III sterling silver coffee or chocolate pot, measuring about 12" high and weighing 23.6 Troy ounces. Ornate repousse, hand-chased, depicting what appears to be a Chinese woman gathering flowers on one side and a Chinese man -- complete with conical hat -- releasing a bird on the opposite side. Several birds appear all over the pot, including three on the lid alone. Hand-hammered handle. Hallmarks include Dublin city mark and "IC" maker's mark, as well as a capital serif Y, presumed to be 1795, but possibly 1771. There is no monarch's head stamp. Very good condition, with a couple of light bumps, excellent detail. Sits flat. Period monogram on one side.
